How To Cook Brown Rice

Updated: Feb 11

brown rice in a stainless steel pot resting on a white cloth on a wooden table

Ingredients:

Water and Brown Rice in a 2:1 ratio (e.g., 1 cup of water for ½ a cup of uncooked rice)

1 pinch of salt per serving

Directions:

  1. Place rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold water, tossing the grains and ensuring they are thoroughly rinsed. Set aside to drain.

  2. Add water to a pot and bring to a boil.

  3. Once the water is boiling, add rice and salt to the pot. Reduce heat to low and cover the pot.

  4. Cook until grains are puffy and water is absorbed. Remove from heat. Drain any excess water, if necessary. Fluff rice with a fork. Recommend covering again and letting sit off heat for another 5 minutes before serving.
